“Great American South Bicycle Tour”
(GABT) (1,200 miles) 26 Dec. - 13 Jan. 2014
This tour was designed around two key principle concepts: the community of America, and a quote by Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” The whole tour was influenced by Richard Avedon’s book: In the American West.
GABT was a 1,200-mile bicycle journey where no hotels or camping were utilized. Instead, I relied on “the community of America” and I crashed with folks I met along the journey which spanned from Bowling Green, Ky. on 26 Dec. 2013 and ended in Austin, Texas on 13 Jan. 2014. I interviewed people on their thoughts of the American community and how it impacted their lives.
